Looking for Spring Stuff

Springbank Park, London, Ontario

-2c, overcast

I went for a walk at Springbank Park this morning.  It is still cold.  I was trying to look for anything green coming up from under the leaves...nothing yet.  I saw a nice variety of birds.

I saw Common Grackle, Robins, Blue Jays, Cardinal, Mallard, Canada Geese, Black Duck, Hooded Merganser, Common Merganser, Song Sparrow, Red-winged Blackbird, Downy Woodpecker, Crows, and Dark-eyed Juncos.

Heard Northern Flicker, Carolina Wren. Red-bellied Woodpecker, and White-breasted Nuthatch.

Below are some of the birds I saw.

Little Birding in Blustering Winds

Gibbons Park - London, Ontario

light snow, -1c, feels like -7c, strong W winds 40 km/h, gusting 63 km/h

I went to Gibbons this morning for a quick look at the owls.  The weather was just wild with snow off and on and strong winds.  The whole week has been terrible weather wise.

I heard a Song Sparrow, a Northern Flicker and Red-winged Blackbirds and saw Mallards and Canada Geese.

This is where I stand to take photos of the owls in the old willow tree.  I zoom in toward the owl nest.

I can see only one little head trying to keep warm.

Cold robins.
