Year 2021

I was able to find some lifers this year which was nice.  They are Lincoln's Sparrow, Stilt Sandpiper, Baird's Sandpiper, Blue Grosbeak, and White-winged Scoter.  Below I have photos of other lifers I was able to get.

Northern Shrike

Cattle Egret

Wilson's Snipe

Harlequin Duck
Whip-Poor-Will

Spotted Towhee

Black-bellied Plover

I need a lot more new birds for Middlesex County which I will be working on in 2022.  Happy New Year!

Some Recent Outings

I have been out birding but have not seen much.  I see the usual birds on my rounds in London.  Recently I was at the Thames River area to look for ducks.  I love seeing the winter ducks.  There were Hooded Mergansers and some Common Mergansers...lots of Mallards and Canada Geese.  I have not seen Common Goldeneyes yet.

These two Great Blue Herons were at the waters edge on the sunny side of the river trying to keep warm.

Some Recent Birding

On November 30, I went to Springbank Park to see what was around.  It was really pretty with the recent snowfall.  Groups of Canada Geese were flying up and down the river.  I took this photo below near the dam as the Canada Geese were flying over.

Spotted a male and female Common Merganser.

Belted Kingfisher

Red-bellied Woodpecker

I started the month of December at The Coves.

Red-tailed Hawks

Greenway Park - It was nice to see a Merlin!

The Canada Geese managed to find some grass to eat.
